Cabela's virgin no more!!
Andy has been telling me for quite some time now that I need to venture off to Cabela's in Lehi and check it out. I never understood why and since I never thought, "Hey, I need to get XYZ, guess I'll go to Cabela's for that!", I never made it up there. Well, Andy is going off to London Sunday night and since he can't take me with him he has to take his special pillow. And, for that, he needed a compression bag to fit it in his luggage. So off to Cabela's the family did go. The kids have been there before and loved it and I can see why now!! The size alone is incredible as are all the dead animals! Now, I don't really like hunting or the use of guns to kill live things (although, the use of guns to shoot at targets such as paper or cans is, in my book, one of the greatest things in life!). But that is a discussion I will not delve into right now......let's just say that I don't like hunting and dead animals. But, if they are there, I will probably look at them and I actually am impressed at the size of some of them! Them moose be huge!!! I do enjoy camping every now and again so it was fun to look at the camping gear and the boating gear (Greg, you better be ready with your boat soon!!!) and the cute clothes. I also purchased a great bag that has so many pockets and zippers and places to put things that I almost needed a moment alone!!! We did forget a couple of things so I think next week I will take the kids up there for some shopping, dead animal looking, and lunch. What more could 2 kids ask for???

You could at least have left the URL to the store so that those of us from far away lands can drool over the immensity of the place. I enjoyed your description, especially about the moose, but I needed a link. too. Here it is http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/community/aboutus/retail-detail.jsp?detailedInformationURL=/cabelas/en/content/community/aboutus/retail/retail_stores/lehi/lehi.html&cm_re=Retail*RetailStores*Lehi
I guess I ought to clarify the pillow thing, since Kristi thinks she's soooo funny.
1. I sleep like the dead on planes. If I'm sleepy, I have a hard time staying awake through take off. Feel free to take a moment and be jealous.
2. When we went to Brazil for our 5th anniversary a couple of years ago, I wanted to get some serious sleep so we wouldn't have to waste a day fighting jet lag. I have a down pillow, and we have a small-ish down blanket at home. So I went to Cabela's and got a larger compression sack to put them in and shrink them down to a reasonable size that would fit in a carry on. The end result is that we slept for 7 out of the 10 hours of the flight in each direction. It was awesome.
3. I've used the compression sack for any overnight flights that I've had to take since then, but with just the pillow, it's not really that efficient since the sack is so large.
4. So I got a smaller one that just barely holds the pillow that I can put in the much smaller carry on that I usually use. Not checking a bag will save me 30 or 45 minutes in London since I have to go straight from the airport to our office. I'm hoping I can drop by the hotel and beg for them to let me check in early. If I can get a shower, I'll feel halfway normal and function pretty well all day, as I should sleep for 5 or so hours of the 8 hour flight from Chicago to London. If I have my "special" pillow that is. I'd still probably sleep that much without it, but I wouldn't sleep nearly as well.
And that's the end of my self-justification. Now it's backto school work.
